Here's my latest project: a small gold EGL-type crown worn by Chii in one of the approximately 1,245,786 artbook pictures drawn of her by CLAMP.

It turned out to be a lot more complicated than I thought it would be. I made a 4" circle out of wire, then I had to fasten a pair of small gold combs onto the circle so the crown could stick to the wearer's hair. I then built the base of the crown, then each of the spikes using craft foam covered on both sides with styrene plastic.

I used gold reflective foil to cover the surface of the crown. (I made a huge mistake at first when I glued the foil to the front surface of the spikes BEFORE I had shaped the spikes. You see, I had to place a slight curve in each of the spikes so they would flare slightly outwards from the top. Gold foil tends to wrinkle if you glue it to a surface and THEN bend that surface.) Once I had realized my mistake, I had to redo all the spikes. (I had wasted a lot of foil, too - that stuff costs about 5 bucks per sheet so it's not a mistake I want to repeat anytime soon.)
I used hotglue to create the raised areas which I painted with gold enamel.
That's about all I have to say about this project--unless anyone has any questions...
